TV Movie Made Based On Emily & Emilio's 1993 Murder Case-PG 65

A few months ago I received an email from a lady (Traciy Curry-Reyes) telling me about a movie that had been airing on A&E Lifetime Channel based pm Emily's murder case, so out of curiosity I checked it out.

Well you cannot even begin to imagine my surprise when this proved to be true. This was the first that our family had heard about any such movie having been made. Evidently the movie had been aired several times on Lifetime under the title "The Killing Secret" and also under the name "The Secret".

After watching a clip of this movie, I realized that I had seen it before, but hadn't connected it to Emily & Emilio's case. A lot of the details in the movie had been changed, but it was based on the same concept....this was No Coincident, it really was based on their murder case.

The writers and directors of the movie had to change the details since they couldn't use the actual ones due to the fact that they didn't have our family's permission.

This was really a total schock for our "family...to know that a movie had been made based on Emily & Emilio's case and we weren't even aware of it. We weren't upset about it in any way, but we would have preferred to have known so that they could have used the true facts in the movie.

If you have seen the movie before, and then find out that it was based on Emily & Emilio's case and watch it again, you can see the similarities.

Since finding out about this movie I have seen it 3-4 times again, so if it helps give Emily & Emilio's case some exposure, our family is glad that it was made and we would especially like to thank Ms. Reyes for all that she has done to help make Emily & Emilio's case more publicly aware.

Movie: The Killing Secret the True Story

You will see it on other blogs and Wikepedia later, they always wait for me to do the research and they repost it. Lol. Remember, you read it here first.

I have finally found and confirmed the basis for this movie. The Killing Secret also known as The Secret is based on the story of Emily Jeanette Garcia. Emily was brutally murdered in 1993 in Texas.

In my opinion, the movie is only "inspired by actual events" because there are so many facts that have been changed. Oddly though, the producers chose to keep the first name "Emily" the same which is so rare. There was not a lot of coverage on the case. There were some initial articles when the body was found, but not much about the case after that. Unlike in the movie, there was never a conviction in the case. This case is still open. I am glad the producers did not leave us hanging on at the end, but at the same time I am extremely disappointed to learn that this case has not been solved. There are so many theories flying around about this case. Some of which the family has chosen to keep private. There are many facts in the case that I am not able to reprint according to the family because they do not want it to hinder the investigation further. I have decided instead to direct you to the family website. The information there is extensive. Please read through the case load. Perhaps someone out there will know something. I will say this. The movie as you see it is what the family feels happened in the real case, except for the conviction. The family had no idea there had been a movie made about the case at all. The mother (at the time) does not have Internet access or cable and had not spoken to anyone about the case except for a few psychics, police, and family. Someone very very close to the case released some very intimate clues, which you will find in the movie. I was hoping I could bring you more info without having to just direct you to the site, but since the case is still open it is better just to post a link.

As you can see the movie changed the race of the person. The real Emily was mixed. Her mother is White and the father is Mexican. Emily's murder was also featured on the show Paranormal State-The Vegas Series, (Emily and Savannah episode). The girl Savannah lived in Las Vegas and reported that Emily had visited her many times. The show tried to help her locate the real story of Emily.
